A View of the Internet Saturday Morn

Reading some of Mark Wallace’s earlier work; Intregried by the one on Phillip J. Kaplan; I hung out with after i won the ‘03 SXSW award where i gave my miserable “Now I Have to Get a Job” speech; Afterward we all hung out with some rollerblade chicks and drank way too much hoch; It was the best F***ing night of my life; How sad; Doubt he remembers me and i had no idea who he was either; He is quite a character;

Philip J. Kaplan;

This quote made me laugh out loud;

Kaplan is tall, handsome, nice, funny, and rich, so it seems odd that he wouldn’t have a girlfriend. “A girl might be really attracted to the things I’ve done, and then, once we get in a relationship, she’ll be frustrated that I can’t spend enough time with her,” he explains. “But I didn’t just wake up and have seven companies.”

Another good one from another good article

DB: You are a young man but you already have several successful web sites and services. What are the most important steps in order to create successful and profitable web sites?

PK: I always try to do as much as I can with as little as possible. I also think solid technical and programming knowledge is key to my work thus far.

And an hour of him talking

Spot on about the creating characters part;

Oh the plot thickens; And i find yet another good quote;

Asked when AdBrite might become profitable, Fanlo said the company will unlikely need any more venture capital. Fanlo, the former president of Shopping.com and an executive at e-commerce site DealTime, said it gave him pause before taking the job to learn that Kaplan was the founder. But Kaplan won him over.

“He’s very passionate and creative,” said Fanlo, 44. “Technology is all about new ideas. You need smart engineers, smart marketing types, but you have to have creative people and let them flourish.”

BUT DOES HE MEAN IT ;)
